The Two Towers Part I

The journey continues...

Frodo Baggins and Sam the Wise continued their journey into Mordor to Mount Doom so they could destroy the Ring of Power and end Sauron's reign of terror. Frodo and Sam decide to rest for the night to get some much needed rest from their perilous journey. While sleeping, Frodo, had a terrifying dream. Frodo recalled the events that happened at the Bridge of Khazad-Dum. The place where his most trusted friend Gandalf fell while battling a demon called a Balrog.

Gandalf the Gray was a mighty wizard and only he alone could fend off the Balrog long enough for his companions to cross the Bride of Khazad-Dum and to escape from the Mines of Moria. Gandalf fought the Balrog bravely. During the heat of battle the Balrog struck Gandalf with his sword of fire, yet nothing happened to Gandalf because he used a spell to repel the blow. Just as the Balrog decided to continue forward with the attack, Gandalf used yet another incantation to cause the creature to plummet into the bowels of the bottomless pit falling helplessly off the Bridge of Khazad-Dum.

All members of The Fellowship of the Ring thought they were safe from the Balrog and its evil power. However, they were all sadly mistaken. For the Balrog struck one final blow with his whip of fire and caused Gandalf to plummet into the bottomless pit. Gandalf and the Balrog fought tremendously while plummeting faster and faster into the depths of darkness. Gandalf and the Balrog bitterly fought from the depths of the Abyss to the top of a mountain. Each combatant struggled to vanquish the other in a battle of good versus evil.

Finally, with a mighty blow that could have only been summoned by the gods, Gandalf struck the Balrog in the heart causing the creature to fall to his death upon the jagged rocks below. Frodo suddenly awoke from his slumber with his heart beating faster then humanly possible. Poor Frodo realized it was a dream and continued to realize that his good friend Gandalf had indeed perished to save he and his fellow companions.

Frodo and Sam continued their journey to Mordor. However, they also noticed that they were being followed by someone. Fordo and Sam made camp that same evening and retired for the night. While they were sleeping, a creature slithered ever so stealthily down the side of the cliff that Frodo and Sam were camped at for the night.

The creature crept slowly toward Frodo, for Frodo carried the ultimate prize that was desired by the creature, it was The Ring of Power. The creature, who was named Gollum reached for his prize and suddenly Frodo and Sam attacked the creature with all their might. Frodo and Sam struggled with all their might to over take Gollum. For Gollum was very strong and wiry and almost defeated Frodo and Sam.

Gollum was within a whispers breath of grasping the Ring of Power from Frodo's neck when Sam made one final charge to subdue the creature. Gollum used his brute strength to overpower Sam. Fortunately for Sam, Frodo used his sword named Sting to force Gollum to release Sam from his powerful grip. After capturing their stalker, Fordo and Sam bound Gollum with Elves rope which caused great discomfort to Gollum. After the savage battle, Gollum pleaded to be released and after a while of howling struck a deal with Frodo and Sam.

Gollum promised to lead them to the Gates of Mordor in exchange for his freedom. Gollum accepted the concessions that Frodo demanded of the creature and so the three travelers set off for The Gates of Mordor.

Meanwhile, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli journeyed many miles and days without sleep trying to catch a band of Orcs that captured Merry and Pippin along the banks of The Great River of Anduin. The Orcs thought the two hobbits Merry and Pippin had the Ring of power. The Orcs were instructed by Saruman the White to return the one hobbit who possessed The Ring of Power unspoiled to his fortress Isengard. Saruman wanted The Ring of Power for his own personal lust for world domination. Continued... The Two Towers Part II.
