All hope was fading fast because Helms Deep was outnumbered 10 to 1 compared to the Orc army. Suddenly there was a trumpet sounding at the gait. It was a familiar sound to Legolas for it was an army of Elves who were sent by King Elrond leader of the elves to assist in the defense of Helms Deep. Now all was set for a stable defense. Meanwhile back in the forest, Tree Beard and his fellow Ents were deciding whether to go to battle or to keep peace.
After several hours of deliberation about going to war against Saruman, the tree herders decided to not to go to war. They decide to return the hobbits back to the Shire. Pippin wanted to go by Isengard so Tree Beard could get a very close-up shot of the destruction of his heard of trees. That was the final nail in the coffin of Saruman for the Tree Headers unleashed hell upon Isengard and totally defeated Saruman's remaining forces.
At Helms Deep, Aragorn and his forces were being defeated by the Orcs. Helms Deep had never been breached but that changed during the course of battle for Saruman made explosives that were used to breach the outer wall of the fortress. Once the breach was created the Orcs rushed in the fortress like a black tidal wave washing away the defenses of Helms Deep, killing everything that stood before them.
Theoden and his men fought bravely in the torrential rain and darkness of the night. One by one Theoden's men fell to the onslaught of the enemy that stand before he and his men. Theoden, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli were finally driven back to the great hall by their ferocious foe. Aragorn and Theoden made their plans to form a last stand. They were to hold off their enemy long enough for the women and children of Rohan to escape from the beasts of destruction.
Meanwhile as Merry and Pippin were being escorted out of the Fangorn forest by Tree Beard. The Hobbits traveled by Isengard and to the utter horror of tree beard, found that Saruman had destroyed a great deal of the forest. This angered Tree Beard and so the Ents declared war on Isengard and destroyed Saruman's army and left his industry utterly destroyed.
The Ents defeated Saruman and made him a prisoner in his own house, Isengard. Aragorn and the rest of the Rohan warriors charged the Orcs as they broke through the last barricade. As Aragorn was charging the Orcs he remembered something that Gandalf told him, "Look toward the Eastern sky during the fifth day of the fifth morning and you shall see my return".
Aragorn looked toward the east and say Gandalf with the last remaining forces of Rohan. Eomer nephew of Theoden lead the charge along with the White Wizard on the Orcs and crushed his foe in a sea of glittering steel that was buried deep in the heart of the enemy.
Frodo and Sam were having no better luck for Sméagol was leading them through the Dead Marshes and was growing weary by the minute. Gollum had been somewhat civil to Frodo yet detested Sam the Wise. Gollum decided he was going to go along with the plan until he could come up with a better idea to steal The Ring of Power from Frodo and Sam. So the three companions journeyed to the Black Gate of Mordor only to find it impossible to go through it without being detected by its guardians.
Gollum decided to led Sam and Frodo around the Black Gate through the realm or Mordor. As they were passing though the forest they stumbled upon an army of men marching to join Sauron and his forces. Sam watched in amazement as the soldiers passed by with their elephant riders. Then suddenly the army was attacked and vanquished by The Captain of Gondor, Faramir. Frodo and Sam and Gollum were captured and brought to Minas Tirith the capital of Gondor.
The Ring of Power was discovered by Faramir and was going to be given to Faramir's father the Stewart of Gondor. Before Frodo could be delivered to the Stewart a Ringwraith began attacking the city and all sought shelter. Frodo was nearly captured by the creature during the attack and Frodo being disoriented himself nearly killed Sam in the heat of battle.
Sam begged for his live and stated what was worth fighting for and how much Middle-earth deserved to have love and peace. Faramir upon hearing Sam's pleas released the prisoners and gave them safe passage to their destination Mount Doom. Gollum was upset with Frodo and Sam and decided he needed to kill them both but not yet. He had a special plan for the two hobbits and so they continued their journey into an unknown evil never knowing what danger awaits them around each corner. . Continued... The Return of the King.
